Serie de siete debates entre el candidato republicano, Abraham Lincoln, y el senador demócrata Stephen A. Douglas durante la campaña senatorial de 1858 en Illinois.

Su tema fue la esclavitud y la ampliación de ella a los territorios del oeste. Lincoln criticó a Douglas por su apoyo a la soberanía popular y a la ley Kansas-Nebraska; a su vez, Douglas acusó a Lincoln de abogar por la igualdad racial y la ruptura de la Unión. Douglas ganó la reelección, pero la postura de Lincoln contra la esclavitud y su brillante oratoria hicieron de él una figura de nivel nacional en el joven Partido Republicano.
